Make My MMO: Scars of Honor’s Kickstarter, Temtem’s and Zenith’s spinoff drama

Welcome to another blast of MMO crowdfunding news from the last few weeks! We’ve got three specific newish Kickstarters to talk about.

  • Galactic Getaway, a multiplayer title with obvious ACNH inspirations, is in the home stretch of its $50,000 Kickstarter with five days to go.
  • WoW-lookalike Scars of Honor also launched a Kickstarter, running through March 7th. As I type this, it’s seen pledges of $32,790 toward its $200,000 goal with 11 days to go.
  • EVE Online scored a Kickstarter win this week… for its new board game, that is. EVE War for New Eden brought home $682K for Titan Forge and CCP.

Meanwhile, Star Citizen lost its live game director, Fractured Veil rolled into early access, The Wagadu Chronicles released a roadmap, Crowfall’s current owner laid off key members of the team working to revive it, and we took a look at the innards of Pantheon.

Plus, Kickstarted MMO studios just cannot seem to stop creating non-MMO spinoffs and pissing off their playerbases: The latest are Zenith (with Zenith Infinite Realms) and Temtem (with Temtem Swarm). Yikes.

Read on for more on what’s been up with MMO crowdfunding over the last few weeks, plus our roundup of all the crowdfunded MMOs we’re following!

Yes, some crowdfunded MMOs most definitely do succeed. But others crash and burn, and you need to hear about the whole spectrum of games that sought your money early in exchange for the promise of input and transparency. And that’s exactly what Make My MMO does several times a month. Help us keep ’em accountable, would ya?
