We’re taking a tour back through our MMO coverage, month by month, to hit the highlights and frame our journey before we launch into 2020 and a whole new decade of MMOs!

WoW Classic absolutely crushed it during the month of August. And by it I mean “the spirits of the people who are forced to wait in long queues to play a 15-year-old MMO.”

Of course, other fun stuff happened too! Guild Wars 2 and ArcheAge announced big things! Black Desert hit the PlayStation 4! DCUO dropped on the Switch! Neverwinter launched Uprising! Elder Scrolls Online rolled out Scalebreaker! Anthem got its own Cataclysm! No Man’s Sky got all multiplayer up in here! Ug, but also Peria Chronicles was canceled, and the gaming industry got caught up in real-world violence again. Sigh.

Read on for the whole list from August of this past year.
